There has been constant increase in Aluminium demand & it will increase approx. 60-70% by a decade. Expert says that if we increase in recycling of used aluminium scrap, the remaining growth can be covered in coming time.
There has been some paths that are suggested by experts. Its says,in order to achieve zero emission by some years, we must follow some path, which are
- Recycling of post-consumer scrap
- Electricity decarbonisation
- Direct emission

1. Recycling of post-consumer scrap:
There has been increasing demand for primary aluminium, & if resource efficiency progress is made right way, it may reduce increasing demand for primary aluminium. Recycling of post consumer scrap that deliver will deliver zero-carbon aluminium. Companies should develop such technologies that replace natural gas with renewable energy in the form of electricity.
2. Electricity decarbonisation
The deployment of carbon capture utilisation and storage which also called CCUS, this technology offers reduce emissions. Momentum for CCUS deployment has grown high for past few years, industries applying it for fuel transformation and power generation. We can see an opportunity to reduce emissions to near zero in coming decade.
3. Direct emission:
Do you know that fuel combustion make around 15% of the industry’s emissions. Direct emission in transport & other raw materials are need to be reduced by more. It will require further new technologies in order to reduce direct emission.
There is need for some skill development programs to be implemented that will establish good business practices. Also, the skill development program will help in achieving business-specific targets as well.
